"Jack" stormed into our life with all of the lightning and Thunder that his mother and I expected. M2B awoke at 1:30 A.M. knowing that our little fireball would most likly make his arrival that morning. M2B took complete control and told me to get dressed and get the car started, I stood there and stared at her, then she repeated her orders to me. By the time I got the car started and back downstairs she was ready at the door to go. We arrived at the hospital and the nurses took a look at the situation and at Mom and then it was decided that Jack was to born that morning by a C-Section.I Called my mom(Grandma Townes) to tell her what was going on, then I phoned Karen's Mom and Dad(Grandma and Grandpa Wetherald) in Toronto to let them in on the situation. Within 5 minutes my cell phone was ringing and it was Dave(Grandpa Wetherald) saying that they were just about to leave and would be up in Orillia by 4:A.M.. Then the next thing I know in walks my Mom just as Karen was being taken up to the operating room. Karen was taken into the operating room and my Mom and I were left to wait outside. I paced and I paced and then the nurses came out to tell us that Karen was doing well and that they were just closing her up, that was Amazing but there was no word on Jack.So we waited and we waited then they came out with Jack in an incubator, he was so tiny and so small, the doctor said that he was a very very sick little boy, and all I could think was "there's my Son". We then went back down stairs and Dave and Sandy(Grandma and Grandpa Wetherald) were waiting for us(Thanks for the coffee:)) I gave them the lowdown on what was happening. We waited until they said we could go up to recovery and see the strongest Mom ever!!!(My wife Karen). She was pretty out of it so we just stood with her and talked to her and told her what had happened and what was most likly going to happen. After about an hour or so we rolled her back down stairs to her room where she went to sleep. The next few hours were a waiting game. We then got the news that Jack was to be flown down to the Hospital for Sick Kids in Toronto (Very Scary) but was excited for Jack because he was gonna get to go flying for the 1st time. Then we got to go in and see our little miracle baby. He was so amamzing looking, he looked like he could take on the world!. Then we got the news that there was a storm coming in so then they were going to transfer him down by ambulance. They finally left Orillia just after noon and Karen's Mom and I drove down in one car and Karen's Dad in the other, my Mom stayed in Orillia to look after Karen. My brother Tom(Uncle Tom) met me down at Sick Kids and stayed with me the whole day(Thanks so much Tom it meant the world to me and to Jack). I got to talk to all of the doctors and nurses. Most importantly I got to spend some time with my son. I hated to leave him that night but I knew he was in good hands and I wanted to get back up to Orillia to see Karen and tell her all about our little boy.
The next morning when I phoned down to Sick Kids and talked to Jack's Nurse(Her name was Sandy) she said he had a pretty rough night and she thought it would be best if I got Karen out of the hospital for the day and come down to Sick Kids. So when I got to the hospital everything had already benn arranged her Karen to have a day pass to go. We wasted no time in getting down to Sick Kids to see our son. We had such a good time just hanging out and seeing our little baby and talking to him. Then we were told that the doctors and the nurses wanted to sit down with us and talk about the situation.During the conversation the doctor explained that the damage done to Jack was so severe that it was ireversable and that he had no chance at a normal life or even surviving. The decision we made on that day was the easiest and the hardest that we will ever have to make. We deicided to let nature take it's course and let our little boy go:(
The docotrs and nurses took off all of the tubes and wires, dressed him in this really cute sleeper with penguins on it and handed him over to me, I got to carry my son for the very first time. I carried him down to the private room that we had. When we got there the nurse Sandy took some pictures of Myself and Karen and Jack(Our Family Portrait), then she left us alone to cuddle and snuggle him and take more pictures and just to get to know him in the short time that we had. He stayed with us for over and hour, then he opened his little eyes and looked at both me and Karen and then his tiny little body began to go to sleep. We told him that he had put up a good fight and it was O.K. to let go and to fall alsleep. At 4:47 P.M. our little Jack left us. He looked so peacefull lying in our arms. I was so glad that he didn't have all of those damm tubes sticking out of him anymore, he looked like a real little boy(He was ,he was our little boy).
Jack is all around us, he is all around you. The next time you go outside look at the tree in your front yard, Jack is there, look up into the sky at night, see those stars? that's our baby boy Jack:) Jack's purpose was to make Karen and I happy and give us meaning in this world, and you know what? he did it:) He was the greatest gift we could have ever of imagined and we will never forget him.

In a Grassy pasture by a gently flowing stream, a young child asks, "How am I special?" And Mama and Papa reply, "Dear Little one, with your warm, caring heart and your bright, curious mind, you are so special, and we will love you forever and ever and always."

New Pictures of our Jack

M2B(Karen) went to the doctor's today and her and baby Jack both got a clean bill of health. Can you believe that we only have 36 days left before baby Jack is here? It just seems like yesterday that M2B and I found out that we were really expecting and having a little boy. I think we are both really anxious for the baby to be here, then on the other hand were both very nervous about looking after our "Little Boy".
Yesterday we met our newest nephew Aidan, he's only a week old and is the cutest little thing i've ever seen. Karen is a natural at holding babies and calming them dwon, she'll have no problem with her own son. We washed our first load of baby clothes yesterday at Grandma and Grandpa Wetherald's, can't get over how small everything is.
Enclosed is a pic of M2B holding baby Aidan.

P2B

Reality

Well it is official, I am now on maternaty leave from work, and talk about relity setting in... No wonder I feel like I'm glowing, Life can't get any better than this, and it's a miracle in itself everyday.

Surprise Baby Shower

This past sunday Karen(M2B) had a "Surprise" baby shower thrown for her in Toronto. I (P2B) just wanted to say thanks to Sandy(G2B) and Sarah(A2B) for putting the whole thing together(I personally thought I was gonna get a few more grays trying to keep it a secret) and also thank you to everyone for all of the wonderful gifts Jack recieved:).Sometime this week I hope to get the dresser and start puting away all of his little sleepers and clothes. Today we are exactly 8 Months pregnant!!! Who would have thunk Eh? Anyways, a quick thought on my wife, she is so strong and wonderful right now, she is actually glowing , I can't put it into words how much I love her and "My Jack".

P2B

What all the cool babies are sportin' these days

Well you knew sooner or later I was gonna make one up:)

Our first class

Karen(M2B) and I (P2B) Started our prenatal classes this past thursday night. We were with another couple that we are friends with(Amy & Jhon) so that was nice. They gave us a big bag of "Goodies" to look at. Inside the bag were to samples of diapers, M2B couldn't get over how small the one was so she took it to work to show everyone:)
Jack has been moving around alot more the last few days, mabey he's getting anxious to get out and meet everyone:)
Got to start thinking about getting the crib and change table and a dresser for Jack, so he has a place to put all of those new clothes he'll be getting(I think Karen wants him to wear a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey, and Uncle Paul wants him to wear a Montreal Canadians jersey)
If I have my way it'll be a Star Wars T-Shirt:) hehehe

P2B

Emotional Times

Well I guess I should get off my duff here and post something(Seems like ages since I have)
It was a really emotional week for me, and for M2B also. We have hit the 7 month mark and I have talked to a few other people and read on the internet that the baby won't be as active as he has been for the last month or so and before I read this I was letting my imagination get the best of me and thinking that something was wrong. Most people know about our 2 Miscarriage's and I guess I still am really worried that something bad might happen to my little Jack. As Karen has said many times that during this pregnancy we just have to live everyday one day at a time and enjoy everyday with our little unborn miricle:)
This thursday we start our pre-natel classes at the hospital, I hope we come away from them with alot of knowledge about what we will be experiencing.
I painted Jack's room yesterday and hung new blinds today, now it's ready for a crib and change table and oh yeah of course THE BABY!P2B

Happy New Year

Well we all did it, survived another year of adventure, and, hopefully prepared for the adventure to come. P2B and I managed to stay awake untill midnight, after which I went straight to bed. Jack has been thrown right off schedule and I've felt him move at odd times, but not complaining, he's kicking around when he wants. Turns out there was one forgotton present, which was a beautiful newborn baby doll, blue ribbon of corse.
Needed ultimetly for our breastfeeding class, but the 2 of us sure fell into sucky mode quick. Funny how you can know it's Just a doll, but hold it so gently as if it were real, and look at it as if we're practicing for how we're going to be looking at Jack. I can't even begin to immagine how I'm going to feel looking into the eyes of my baby... I think K and I are starting to realize how close it is, by saying it's less than 12 weeks just puts it all into perspective. Baby Jack is moving around everyday now, I think he has his times of the day when he sleeps and when he wakes up, if he's anything like his dad he'll be a nightowl and be up all night. When january comes i'm gonna start on the room and get it cleaned out and painted. For Christmas Jack got a number of neat things from his grandma Townes and his uncle Tom and Aunt Tara and his Uncle Paul and Aunt Nadia. For Christmas Jack and Karen(M2B) got a special gift from Daddy to hang on his wall(No it wasn't a Star Wars poster).

Updates to come

P2B

WoW! I think as each day passes I'm getting more and more excited about the birth and i'm also more and more scared about baby Jack being born. I think i'm more scared about how we are going to deal with all of life's "Little" problems that kids deal with everyday. I know when they are little a parent can shelter them from all of the "Bad" things , but when they get older it gets harder and harder to do. I think we have learned alot about parenting from friends and family who have children, we will take a little bit of knowledge from each of them to raise our Jack the best way we can. M2B is starting to feel Jack alot more in her tummy, I can't wait till I can feel him also.

P2B

P.S. He looks and sounds really healthy:) We are at exactly 21 weeks and 1 day today!, it's gonna be here before we know it, and I can't wait.

P2B<a href=""C:\Program Files\CountDown!\cntdown.exe"">

21 weeks and counting

We couldn't be getting any more excited, 21 weeks along now and doing great. She has that glow that I believe only women get when they are expecting, she looks so beautiful. We have another ultrasound appointment this wednesday and we are looking forward to it. The doctors office had phoned earlier this week cancelling the ultrasound and the doctors appointment, but M2B phoned back and said no-way, we could skip the doctors appointment but there was no way we were missing the ultrasound(We both booked the day off work) so the secretary was either frightened of a pregnant woman on the other end of the phone or she felt bad, but we still have our ultrasound appointment. Until we actually start feeling the baby start to "Kick" the ultrasound is all we have:)

P2B

P.S. I can't wait untill Joe feels Jack move too, then maybe it will make up a bit for me being snappy and grumpy on the way home from work untill I get changed and have dinner. I think just the realiztion that next week we will be 5 months along, and soon I'll be feeling Jack move around, and as if it isn't real enough, it's going to a whole new level of real. Joe took wonderful care of me, let me cry and brought me a blanket to curl up with. Should anything be challenged when Jack is born, I know it's nothing that we can't handle, and nothing could make us love Jack or want him any less. Kinda scary but people do it everyday so i'm pretty sure we can do it:)

P2B

Joe's song

Well it seems I'm being rewarded for getting to almost 1/2 way through our pregnancy, and have been off and on really sick this week, in fact on my way to work this morning and I had to come home and change...
here's where Joe's song comes in, he's made a little song that he sings to me called "the joys of being pregnant" Ok, thats the only line, and he sings it over and over, but has a wonderful dance that he does with it to make me laugh, and it makes me feel better every time, also thinking of Jack swimming around inside oblivious to the side effects i'm having, makes it all worthwhile.
